Mayflower Hall: Linen room

Mayflower Hall: Linen Room 1st Floor

After hearing paranormal activity in the linen room, I took a photo of the room. This area is just an oversize closet, once used for storage. (each floor has its own linen closet.)

The image came out distorted, not uncommon in Mayflower.

What do you see? Perhaps nothing?

But...

I see a shape, perhaps arms, and legs - almost upside down. Others claim there is someone sitting on the floor.

But whatever it is, Mayflower always keeps me guessing.

Below is what the room actually looks like in the limited lighting

The Mayflower Hall building was once part of the infamous Pennhurst State School & Hospital in Spring City Pa
(1908-1987)

Today it is a hotspot for the paranormal enthusiast.

GHOST ON THE MOVE: MAYFLOWER 2011

                      FLASHBACK 2011

Over the past 7 years, ghostly images have been photographed in the Mayflower Hall Building, Pennhurst.  Many are orbs or shadows. But one of the spirits more pronounced is that of the nurse. This woman wears a white uniform and usually resides on the 2nd floor. Most of her images are incomplete, such as the one above.  Often only half a body with one sleeve appears in the image. In this picture, she appears to be in flight.

So who is this ghostly wonder?

A nurse checking up on her patients?
Perhaps.

After- all, a white uniform was standard in Pennhurst's era.

Mayflower Hall is just one of the many buildings located at the old Pennhurst State School and Hosptial in Spring City
 (1908-1987)Pennsylvania.

GHOSTLY HAPPENINGS 2017

MAYFLOWER HALL: PENNHURST 2017

Added to the Pennhurst State School and Hospital compound in 1919, the Mayflower Hall building became part of what was considered the lower campus. It housed males. This towering building holds three floors and a complex basement filled with various rooms.

Anyone familiar with theMayflower Hall can attest to its spooky atmosphere. When the sun sets, the building seems to prematurely darken on its own accord. Shadows play against the walls. The atmosphere cools. One might catch movement in a corner or something drifting across the hallway. But quick as a wink, one will pause, wondering as to what occurred? An unbeliever might shake it off as just a fluke. But a believer will feel the seal of knowledge of the unknown.

Mayflower: Main hallway, 1st Floor

In the 2017 haunt season, Mayflower was up to her tricks. Guests of the Mayflower After Dark tour reported being touched, mostly on the head or hand. Some event staff of Mayflower reported seeing apparitions or having their hair stroked. Photos taken of orbs, faces, and shadows were common.

Another guide witnessed a walker abruptly flipping onto its side. Still, another spoke of having his shoelaces untied over and over again, despite securing them.
Did this walker flip over on its own?

The rear lot of Mayflower is also a hot spot for ghost sightings. Reports of a drifting spirit who exits the Mayflower and then disappears into the Quaker Building have been alleged. Another sighting included a spirit following a stray kitten.

OH THOSE CRAZY PICS!

 Not Surprising
Philadelphia Building

Anyone familiar with Pennhurst State School & Hospital can attest to its supernatural attributes. But catching anything on camera is another matter altogether.

I'd like to think I have a steady hand and a pretty good eye behind a camera. But none of that seems to matter when it comes to Pennhurst.  About 4 out of 5 times my pictures come out this way.

A weird display of freakish supernatural art?

Below is an older picture I had taken years ago on a regular camera. It too is strange- stranger still because I had been working at Pennhurst at the time and felt as if something had followed me home.

No matter what the explanation or your take on the photos, one will have to admit something strange is going on at Pennhurst.

Oh those Chairs

Some claim this ball moves around. It certainly appeared in motion in this pic.

Chairs are sporadically placed around Mayflower Hall. Most, if not all of the chairs are original to the State School & Hospital. One only has to look around. Some are made of rubber, others wood. Most are dusty, faded and old.

The most profound chair in Mayflower is, of course, the wheelchair. There's nothing like coming upon it in the dark. Currently, the wheelchair is located on the 3rd floor but there could be plans to move it downstairs.

Wheelchair on the 3rd floor. Notice the missing wheels.

As much as I would miss seeing the wheelchair on the 3rd floor, it would be a nice addition to the museum.

MAYFLOWER HALL: PENNHURST GHOST

Anyone familiar with the Mayflower Hall Building has heard  rumors of the building's haunted atmosphere.

Although there are many skeptics, there are just as many believers.

One of the spirits that linger in the building are that of a little girl dressed in white. Some that call her Mary, while others called her Emily.

Perhaps there are several of these spirits. The problem lies with the fact that Mayflower Hall was once a male dormitory. It makes one wonder as to the gender issue.

After working in this building during the annual Halloween attraction, (Pennhurst Asylum) I can attest that I've not only seen this girl but believe I have captured her image upon occasion. I saw her dart across an open doorway. Another time, I saw her in the hallway. She is quite fast, moving from room to room.

The one problem of getting a decent picture in the building is that whenever one does so, it's often grainy, smeared or blurred.

Which leads me to the above image.

After closing up the building for the night, I had a feeling that something was standing  on the stair landing of the 2nd floor. Going with my intuition, I snapped several photos. This is the result of one of the shots.

Now since I am familiar with this little girl's image, I can clearly make her out. There seem to be other spirits in this photo.

But even if you don't believe, the picture is interesting in itself. I can attest to its authentic nature. I always try to debunk Mayflower and have found time after time that what goes on it the building is real.

The Mayflower Hall building is located at the old Pennhurst State School and Hosptial in Spring City, Pa. It closed down in 1986 with the last of the residents leaving December 1987.

"So Do you Believe in Ghosts?"

I do,

Mayflower Hall: Third Floor

The buildings at the old Pennhurst State School & Hosptial are known for their size. Most of the buildings have at least three levels and a basement. This picture was taken on the third floor of the Mayflower Hall building.

Although this picture was taken in a dimly lit setting, the light at the end of the hallway beckons with supernatural illumination - or at least it seems that way. It brings to mind those scary flicks where the character just can't seem to get to the end of the hallway.

Mayflower: Dolly

"Peek A boo! I see You!

This dolly might as well open up its mouth and say those words out loud. Situated in the basement of the Mayflower Hall Building, Pennhurst, this little fellow had been placed upon an old crate of some sort. I came upon him one night in 2016 as I walked through the basement, which is cut up into several rooms. This room is black so when my flashlight fell upon this doll's features, it was quite startling. Although this boy is not a relic of the original state school and Hospital, he is an interesting find in the unnerving, dark basement.

Over the past few years, many people leave things in the Mayflower Building, mainly the paranormal groups. Perhaps they are making an offering to the spirits that seem to roam freely around this building. The old Pennhurst State School & Hospital is known for its haunted atmosphere and dire past.
