The Fisher Price airplane is original to Pennhurst State
School and Mental Hospital located in Spring City, Pennsylvania. One only has
to look at it and wonder who last played with the toy. I mean really played
with it in childlike innocence?
Our little plane has been indeed popular in the Mayflower
Building during the Ghost Hunt, which opened in 2011, my first year. Not only
does the plane bring speculation, but it holds an air of mystery to it.
Paranormal stories flow amongst the ghost seekers.
But one night our little plane disappeared.
This set off a race to find the plane. Lynn, my worker went one way. I
went another. I searched the second floor, then the first, asking other
employees if they had seen it. No one had. After a searching the entire first
floor, I arrived back up at the second, running into Lynn who just came down
from the third floor staircase.
Together we returned to the old kitchen now minus the
airplane. I shinned my flashlight into all four corners. Nothing. But then
something caught my eye. Stunned, I lifted my beam to the lower wall.
It was weird how the plane was hanging on such a small lip of concrete. Even if someone had deliberately hung the plane, how would they have found such a small edge sticking out of the wall and in the dark? Either someone was messing with us or the spirits were having a good time at our expense. Whatever the reason, I was glad to have the little plane back in its spot.
